State of the Muse(s)

Characters:

character: Aang ([personal profile] savedtheworld)
series: Avatar: The Last Airbender
tagging priority: ■■■■■: Well, he's my only character so yeah.
muse strength: ■■■■□: I've been feeling increasingly confident with Aang as time has gone on, and it feels less like I'm playing with training wheels. I do sometimes feel his voice is off a bit. Particularly I sometimes had trouble capturing his sense of humor, but I think I've been getting better with that.
cast strength: ■■■■□: Pretty much a Toph away from perfection.
plotting capabilities: ■■■■□: Aang's very easy to get involved in a lot of things due to his nature, and that also leads to some fun stuff like the Tobi incident. There's still plenty of characters I'd like to get him talking to, and I should slap him onto more threads. And there's plenty of potential for fun antics and such within Avatar House (a potential that is only growing with the prospects of Toph, Roku and Iroh). There are also some things I have yet to actually implement (like meeting the wind spirit, and the bugging everyone about the cultural festival). I only haven't really been satisfied with the AU Aang, since I feel like I dropped the ball and made him pretty inconsistent with only a few satisfactory threads. The Buffy/Jack was a real saving grace in getting him to a more fun place. Of course the Katara threads were packed with strong emotion, but they would have gone pretty similarly with any other AU of Aang (and possibly even have been more effective) or with an Aang who was just amnesiac. But Real Aang? Going great.
general fun level: ■■■■□: It's been a real enjoyable ride so far. I've generally had fun bouncing off of various characters, adjusting Aang's tone and establishing the repertoire with the various castmates. Plus, Aang's relationship with Katara has made for some great emotional stuff, even if really depressing. It's felt like a real journey playing as Aang. I never really defined myself as a "fandom" guy before, but playing as Aang kind of sucked me down that rabbit hole and exposed me to an unusual amount of what is classified as "feels". I look forward to taking him through various fun and new plots.
likelihood of drop: □□□□□: Aang's not going anywhere.

Possible Apps:

Character: Marceline the Vampire Queen
Series: Adventure Time with Finn and Jake
-Marceline's been one of my favorite fictional characters from recent years, and her episodes of Adventure Time are usually among the best. Her lovely voice definitely helps. She was one of the characters I wanted to app first, but I held back in favor of Avatar. She's a character who can be kinda casual and interact with most other characters, and she's also really fun and trolly a lot of the time. This way I could try out not only a female character, but one who isn't strictly heterosexual. I'm often a dull shipper, sticking with canon, but Marceline/Princess Bubblegum is one ship I've grown attached to (even if it is because of an episode where it was practically canon).
-I guess some problems I've had with her are that her powers (and even her weaknesses) are fairly ill-defined. There is a lot of vagueness in her past as well, but that could easily be glossed over (especially as Marceline is the type who could lie about her past to strangers). One other factor that had me hold off apping her was hearing that new episodes of Adventure Time begin in April, and that there would be a two-parter that should show more about Marceline and her past. By a stroke of luck, the episode will air on April 29th, so I'll be able to immediately work it into my app (or in the worst case scenario I can discard it if the episode somehow makes her unplayable for me).

Character: Alex Louis Armstrong
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist (Manga/Brotherhood)
-Armstrong is one of my favorite FMA characters (and pretty much my favorite fight is the Armstrongs and Curtises vs. Sloth). I have had constant internal debates about which FMA character to pick. I love Olivier and her badassness, but I'm not sure how she would work in a social setting. As for Alex, he immediately seems more fun and would fit into my lethal joke character slot. He does seem almost too easy to play as, but I am having fun practicing his bits in my head while also considering his serious side. Plus the FMA cast looks great, so there's some promise for Armstrong to play off of. With the Envy reserve, it also looks like it was a fortuitous time to app into this cast. I just need to cram some canon review, since it's been months since I watched Brotherhood, and I haven't finished the manga. I should be able to review enough in time though and collect various shirtless icons.

Other Potential Future Characters:
-Henchman 21 (The Venture Bros.) - He's someone I've had in mind for a while. He would be my meta guy, which is partly why I'm delaying him for the time being so I can get more practice in before doing a fully meta character. I also have to do canon review for him. I feel like he'd make an interesting addition to Luceti, especially since the most recent season left him at a bit of a crossroads. Especially with Venture Bros. being an untapped fandom thus far. I do keep non getting temptations to try a different character instead (such as Monarch, Dr. Girlfriend or Shore Leave) but I'll try to stick with 21.
-Han Solo - The Star Wars group seems cool, and when I took a look at that Anakin intervention log, I realized the implications of characters watching their own movies and wondered how Han would react. That evolved into me wondering whether I could play Han in Luceti. It's something I'm definitely considering. Not sure about the canon point except I won't use post-film EU. I do want to use the Han Solo Trilogy as a foundation (since they were pretty much my first novels), and I'll have to review them over the summer when I'm not stuck in a bunch of literature courses. It would be good to have a dashing rogue in my line-up.
-And there's still more to think over. I've also wanted to do a DC(most likely Damian Wayne, but that has diminished out of late), Naruto (Pi planted Rock Lee's seed in me) or One Piece character (maybe Usopp or hell I'd take almost anyone). I've also felt an Eleventh Doctor temptation lately. Too many characters are fighting for shared control over my head.
