State of the Muses: October 2012
character: Aang ( series: Avatar: The Last Airbender tagging priority: ■■■■■: As always, on top. Sometimes I just get lazy with portions of his tags. muse strength: ■■■■■: He feels solid as ever. Occasional review just helps me to make some tweaks. cast strength: ■■■□□: Our family is broken, and small, but still good. Still good. The potential of Suki and Ty Lee could help to breathe some new life in. Some other essentials to look out for would be a new Zuko to finally have a full Gaang again and then hopefully work can be done on the Korra cast being properly built. plotting capabilities: ■■■■■: Only increasing. The recent tunnel thing and the draft have been ways to get him more interested in the general state of affairs in the world. In the past, I guess I've been too lazy to get him that involved in the overall plot (the one exception being the Bil decoy plot but that was quickly swept aside when I decided on the draft for him instead) and content myself with just having him accept he has no control over Luceti life. But this month I've been trying to tweak things to make Aang more progressive, so that he can be involved in this kind of plot stuff more often, hopefully learn enough to not be left behind and also do what he can to work towards being the Avatar of this world. I also really have to find good missions that he won't power out of. general fun level: ■■■■■: Aang's hijinks are always super fun, to the point where I probably overload on them sometimes. likelihood of drop: □□□□□: As impossible as ever. In fact, he's finally gone premium.
character: Rock Lee ( series: tagging priority: ■■■□□: I wind up sitting on tags for a few days sometimes, but he is definitely my second prority, and I can get good speed with his threads when I'm in the right mood. muse strength: ■■■■□: I think I'm at a comfortable place with him, but possibly with room for improvement. Reviewing his most recent episode has helped me to pin down some aspects and also to feel more confident. cast strength: ■■■■□: This little Naruto family's still growing, and I like it. We have the best Shikamaru, possibly the best everyone, and Lee has his beloved teammates. Kushina and Jiraiya have both proven to be fun additions for Lee to play off of - as well as Konan, but they still have to officially "meet". However, I still long for the most important characters for Lee such as Gai, Sakura, Gaara, Tsunade and Kakashi. And the last episode has also had me longing for a Sai. plotting capabilities: ■■■□□: I should still be tossing him around more (he actually doesn't have that many tags in the inbox currently so he'll need new things), but he is the kind of guy to pretty much do anything and probably consider it training in some way. I've also been horrible with him in mission logs so that's probably a detriment. general fun level: ■■■■□: When I'm really into Lee, things can be super fun. I've had lots of lovely threads and enjoy stuff like Lee excitedly palling around with Rin. likelihood of drop: □□□□□: Safe!
character: Troy Barnes ( series: Community tagging priority: ■□□□□: Sadly entering the chore zone unless I have really fun tag ideas in mind. But really I often wind up putting him off for ages. His poor intro post. ...And he still hasn't been put on the draft log. muse strength: ■■■□□: There are only a few times where I feel really comfortable with his voice. At other times, I feel like I'm just circling it. cast strength: ■■■■□: Abed's enough to count for infinite amounts of boxes. But depending on what happens, the box may be down for zero. There's still vague hopes for Community apps, but who knows. plotting capabilities: ■□□□□: Not much, but Troy's not someone I really want to involve in plots. I realized too late about the problem with putting Troy on the draft is... well he's my meta guy, a comical character who should not be dealing with problems more serious than helping to keep Abed functioning, and that draft is a really grim place. I think I could be content for having him stay on the sidelines. general fun level: ■■■■□: When I get myself into Troy mode, I can have lots of fun. He's a character who can be more full on humor than anyone else. Although I guess one problem is that Troy has to deal with characters who react realistically to his childish behavior. It's just hard to kind of navigate around Troy justifying himself, which is kind of hard without a cast to help ground him. But he does still have nice threads with other like-minded characters such as Vivi or Molly Carpenter. likelihood of drop: ■■■□□: I don't believe Abed's been actually dropped yet, but I'm considering whether or not Troy would wind up following. I adore Bayley and don't blame her for anything, but I was convinced to bring him in as part of a pair, and it's hard to really build Troy up without the foundation of cast support. If Troy ends up a lone canon warrior after apps season, I'll have to take a look and see if I feel more confident with any combination of the above areas as well as the CR so far to see if I can keep him going on his own. Otherwise, with all the potential characters I have swarming in my head, it might be best to let him go, and eventually you can probably make dropping jokes about me instead of Masa. Although now I think I'm starting to tire our already.
Potential Apps:
I am terrible and will still consider numbers of more apps. But so far Aang's canon update is the only definite - if anything one app, maybe even two if I feel lucky. The possibilities haven't changed much since last time (only added one definite who I forgot about), although the liklihoods now are different.
*Midna (The Legend of Zelda): I had a really good feeling about her a few weeks ago - or was it last month? I think her icons came out great, and me and Masa worked out an interesting way for her to play off of G-Dawg. But the excitement's kind of died down, and her meme tags so far haven't been coming to me so naturally, as well as no test drive attention. She's kind of fallen from most likely into some unlikely zone inhabited by the others.
*Dia (Pokemon Special): I had been close to writing him off, but I've had a little bit of fun doing his test drive tags. I dunno. I'll try to tag around the test drive more when I feel free-r and see how I feel with him.
*Nightcrawler (X-Men Evolution): A bit of a temptation. The last season of Evolution helped me to get into the idea of playing Nightcrawler. The Evo cast looks like a fun place to be, as well as the ginormous Marvel cast by extension, and the Mystique stuff has at least made me intrigued by the potential Rogue CR. I'm just still a bit unsure/insecure about whether or not I can pull off his voice and put as much thought and care into him. I do feel a little intimidated by playing a character who's had a fairly long run already, which I've also seen the tail end of. I know the same's true for Alphonse, but I wasn't around when the previous one was, and he'll be coming in a different form so it could feel more like a fresh start. But
*Alphonse Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist): He's actually the most likely right now, but I still have to work on completing his review. We'll see whether or not I finish in time for apps. Either way, I have been wanting to try him in a D_M post and might do so when apps open as a preliminary voice test. I just need to work on a username - I did already grab the name "kittencompartment", but that's more applicable for his armor form, and I should probably think of one more serious, probably involving the reunion of body and soul. "exchanged" came to me and sounded fairly fitting, but was already taken by a Silver. But I'm really into my potential ideas so far, with the only real foreseeable problems so far being the conflict with Aang regarding CR with the FMA cast.
*Wreck-It Ralph (
lol... the verdict for pretty much all of them is "let me review more/finish reviewing/try some more tags and see how I feeeellllll..."
